Engineers and Mathematicians

Engineers, Mathematician/Statisticians all have some staple software that they will all need to know. For Mathematicians is could be Maple, JMP, SAS, etc. Engineers would rather use Matlab, Simulink, Labview etc.

I have used software from both these areas and after some thought, I can conclusively say that engineers make much better software. True, the mathematical packages are designed by software engineers. However, they are still designed with mathematicians in mind.

It is amazing how convoluted some of the operations in Maple and JMP are. They try to make operations nice and visual and end up being slow and akward. The nice Matlab command line is that way things should be.
